My name is…

Paul Ellis, Head of Strategic Accounts at Leep Utilities

I’m responsible for…

I am responsible for the windswept and interesting strategic sales stuff.

Typically, this includes a wide spectrum of activities, ranging from large complex projects requiring bespoke solutions, through to competitive tenders, and then more straight-forward single utility projects.

Working within such a competitive arena, it is important I clearly communicate Leep’s experienced technical input as part of each bespoke and targeted approach. I’m able to utilise the fantastic long-term relationships that we, as a business, have developed and nurtured – great stuff!

My typical day…

Strangely enough, my typical day starts on the Friday of the week before. Working to tender deadlines requires planning the week ahead so I set aside time per day to achieve this. Of course, there are always more immediate tasks that drop in daily, but I find this mix quite motivating. Overall, I aim to be accessible to all my customers and clients, both internal and external.

The best part of my job…

I find my job brilliantly rewarding but would have to say my favourite parts are working with the wider Leep team and helping my clients solve their challenges.

If I could share one piece of advice…

My one piece of advice would be to smile before answering the phone. From experience, I have found that this puts you in a positive mindset that will be picked up by the person calling.

I get my smile from rotating my ringtones, much to my colleagues’ amusement. Normally from the 80’s, my favourite is Mr Blue Sky.

When I’m not working, I’m….

dwinking rine! Seriously though, spending time at home with the family and two Maltese dogs – I would like to say relaxing, but that is not always the case.

Spookily, some of my best ideas pop up when I have “switched off”. I am sure to note these down ready to take back into the office and work up – I love it!
