Frequently Asked Questions

During these difficult times, we wanted to answer some of the questions you may have. As a critical essential service provider, we will continue to work to ensure that your supplies continue. The safety of our team, our customers and their families is of paramount importance to our business and we are working closely in line with Government and Public Health Guidance.

Q. With people washing their hands more frequently, is there a risk that you might run out of water?
A. No, there is a sufficient supply and there are no concerns about running out of water.

Q. If we’re washing our hands more often, will my bills increase?
A. Hand washing should have a small impact on your bills. For information about how to save water and save money on your bills click here. If you are struggling to pay your bills, please contact us so we’re able to support you.

Q. Can my water be contaminated with the virus?
A. No. The World Health Organisation has stated that the virus cannot survive in disinfected drinking water and has not been transmitted in this way. In the UK, drinking water supplies are routinely disinfected as part of the treatment process, and this process removes all harmful pathogens including viruses. The coronavirus (COVID-19) is thought to spread between people who are in close contact with one another, and all evidence from the spread of the virus shows that the drinking water supply is not a route for transmission of the virus.  People should continue to use tap water as normal, including for drinking, hand washing, bathing, cooking, and cleaning teeth.

Q. Will there be more fatbergs or sewer issues?
A. This is a concern. With people running out of toilet roll, using more wipes and even kitchen roll, there may be more issues than normal. Our advice is to remember the three Ps - bin anything that isn't pee, poo and (toilet) paper – and don’t feed the fatberg.

Q. Can we still contact Leep?
A. Yes; our teams are still working (remotely) and we are still available to answer any queries you may have. We are experiencing a higher than usual call volume at this time and so there may be a longer wait time than normal if you call us. Please use the Contact Us button at the bottom of this page to get in touch.

Q. Has there been an impact to the service Leep provide?
A. Our Customer Service team are still working and able to support you should you need to contact us. All essential maintenance is still ongoing but we have put a hold on non-essential maintenance and Meter Readings in order to ensure the health and safety of our team.

Q. How can I keep a track of my bills?
A. The easiest way to keep on track of your bills is to submit regular Meter Readings to ensure that your bills are generated using correct actual consumption and you are only charged for the water you use. Click here to submit a Meter Reading.

Q. I’m a building owner/landlord/manager and people will soon be reoccupying the building. What steps do I need to take to restore the drinking water systems?
A. Water UK have released a Briefing Note for guidance on recovering drinking water supplies in buildings and networks after prolonged inactivity. Please click here to view the briefing note. For more information from Water UK, please click here to visit their website.
